Help get cuddles and smiles to more children like Melody

Imagine it: a baby sits in a hospital bed, in an unfamiliar place, far away from home and surrounded by strangers. They're having cancer treatment.

Even though they might not fully understand what's going on, they'll pick up on the anxiety of those close to them.

Now picture the look on their face when they receive a cuddly Warmies® teddy bear. That smile, and the distraction it provides from the discomfort of the drip in their arm, is priceless.

You can help make it happen for a child like Melody.

When Rachel and Kevin’s smiley four-month old baby, Melody, developed a cold in April 2025, they didn’t suspect that their little girl’s snuffles would be anything out of the ordinary. However, tests revealed that she had AML (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia), an extremely rare type of fast-developing blood cancer. Melody urgently needed a bone marrow transplant, which she received at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

A Cuddles for Christmas bear from Cancer Support UK arrived at just the right time, bringing comfort and distraction from the stress of coping with cancer.

“This warmable bear is wonderfully comforting and brings a smile to Melody’s face,” says mum Rachel. “It’s the perfect size for her and we are so grateful to everyone who donated and ensured Melody received her cute ted. It’s been a godsend at this difficult time.”

Melody is just one of around 1,900 children diagnosed with cancer every year. By donating to our Cuddles For Christmas appeal, you'll be helping to make sure every child that needs one receives a free, comforting Cuddles bear. Please donate today.

Hundreds of children like Melody will spend this Christmas in hospital, surrounded by strangers in unfamiliar surroundings, away from their friends and family, enduring treatment for cancer.

We're on a mission to ensure that a Warmies® Cuddles bear is available to every child that needs one, and we want you to be part of it.
